Shopping Urge Delay Session
Put a little space between wanting something and deciding what to do. NoBuyCart keeps the session on this device and does not call it therapy, financial advice, or proof that money was saved.
Run a private shopping pause
No account is created. The item label, approximate cost, trigger, urgency, delay, and outcome stay in this browser until you clear NoBuyCart data.
What happens during a session
The flow records only what you type and choose. It never opens, reserves, buys, or evaluates a real product.
- 1
Name the purchase idea
Use a short label such as “another desk lamp.” Do not enter account, card, address, or other sensitive details.
- 2
Add rough context
The approximate cost, trigger, and urgency help you compare how the decision felt before the delay.
- 3
Choose a delay
Start with 2, 5, or 10 minutes. Ending early is allowed; the tool is a pause, not a rule.
- 4
Park the urge somewhere fictional
Open the fake catalog in another tab if browsing needs somewhere to go.
- 5
Record the outcome
Choose still want it, unsure, or skip purchase. NoBuyCart does not decide for you.
- 6
Review the local pattern
The tool counts completed sessions, average chosen delay, changed outcomes, and approximate skipped cost.
What is stored
Completed sessions use the nobuycart.pause-sessions.v1 localStorage key. Up to 100 recent sessions are kept in this browser. Clearing site data or using the dashboard reset removes them.
What the numbers mean
Approximate skipped cost is the total you entered for sessions marked “skip purchase.” It is a self-recorded simulator total, not verified bank savings. “Decisions changed” combines unsure and skipped outcomes; it does not claim why the decision changed.
