NoBuyCart · A fictional budget challenge
A little cart. A pretend $100 limit.
Build a small basket without turning it into a real purchase. Your prompt: choose three fictional finds, keep the pretend subtotal at $100 or less, then decide whether to finish with a $0 receipt or simply stop.
These are imaginary US-dollar amounts, not available deals, a spending allowance, or money saved. NoBuyCart sells nothing. Starting opens the existing simulator; it does not add these example products or clear your saved cart.
A worked basket, not a mystery bundle
One notebook for an idea, one beanie for an imaginary outfit, and one planter for a desk corner. Three different jobs make a more interesting selection prompt than choosing three copies of the same thing.
Quest Log NotebookGames · fictional $18.00
Boss Fight BeanieGames · fictional $25.00
Desk Forest PlanterHome · fictional $34.00
Example pretend subtotal: $77.00. Real amount due at NoBuyCart checkout: $0.00.
The arithmetic is $18 + $25 + $34 = $77.00. That leaves $23.00 of pretend room. You do not need to use it: staying below the ceiling is the point, not reaching it exactly.
Build your version in four steps
- Review what is already there. Open your saved fake cart first if you have one. The challenge evaluates the whole cart; this page never removes another session's items.
- Choose a role for each pick. Try something for a desk, something to wear, and something purely playful. Those roles are optional; the existing rule checks at least three units and a subtotal no higher than $100.
- Make one trade-off. Search the simulator for the examples above or choose other canonical products. Replacing the $34 planter with a $39 lamp makes the example $82. Replacing it with a $74 console makes it $117, so that version is over the limit.
- Finish deliberately. Review quantities and subtotal. Use the existing $0 checkout for an imaginary receipt, or leave without checking out. There is no real payment step.
If the challenge says you are over
A repeated item adds another unit and another copy of its fictional price. Look at quantities as well as the visible product names. Swap one pick or remove an unwanted duplicate in the existing cart; do not assume the page's example total includes your saved items.
The three-different-items idea is an editorial prompt, not an extra reward condition. The existing Tiny Treats challenge accepts at least three units under its limit. No extra XP, hidden prize, or separate checkout is attached to this guide.
A result you can keep fictional
After checkout, the existing receipt tools let you optionally share the fictional result. Check the preview and keep it labelled as pretend shopping. The subtotal is not proof of real savings. You can also choose Done for Today without sharing anything.
If a real purchase is on your mind, use the purchase-reflection questions instead. For a different constraint, the five-pick Black Friday exercise explores a larger pretend limit without sale pressure.
